As part of our Centenary celebrations, we are inviting staff, students, alumni, and the local community to share their fondest memories of the University of Reading.

You can submit your memories in written form, or provide any photos or videos you’d like to share with our community.

What will happen with the memories you share

We will collect your memories up until Sunday 5 October 2025. After that, our project team will curate the memories into a programme of immersive activities open to everyone, to be delivered in 2026. The project team consists of colleagues from across the University, Reading Students' Union, the Friends of the University, and our local partners.

All of the memories shared will be collected and preserved in the University of Reading archive.

Our programme of Centenary activities

  • SITELINES – a theatre in unusual places, co-created with South Street Theatre.
  • A Window into the Past – a trail of curated pictures displayed across Whiteknights and London Road campuses, in collaboration with Jelly.
  • University of Reading Alumni Varsity – alumni will be invited back to relive Wednesday afternoon, participating in a series of sports matches against current sports clubs.
  • RAG Parade – the RAG parades of the past will be reinvigorated, with the parade being brought back for 2026.
  • A programme of heritage tours and new heritage leaflets designed by The Friends of the University.
