Let us signpost you to the right support: Ask us a Question

There are five Support Centres across Whiteknights and London Road campuses. Degree programmes are aligned to specific Support Centres and your question will be channelled to the Support Centre for your area of study. Teams in the Support Centres will either support you directly or signpost you to specialist advisory teams across the University, or to your school. 

Upcoming changes to Ask a Question

Later this month we are moving to an upgraded version of Ask a Question.  The new system will look and feel a bit different but still provide the same service allowing you to log enquiries with the relevant student services teams for a prompt response.  You will receive further communications about this via email.

This work is being carried out over the summer to minimise disruption to you.  We will switch over to the new service by 5pm on  Wednesday 18 June.  If you require support from 5pm on Tuesday 17 June, please visit the support teams in person or use contact details below.

To contact the Accommodation Office to apply to change or cancel your room you should email the Accommodation Team at: accommodationonline@reading.ac.uk To contact the Accommodation office to report a problem with your university accommodation, please use the Halls Hotline webform.

Urgent problems with university accommodation can be reported 24 hours a day on 0800 029 1984.

The University of Reading welcomes disabled students and has a dedicated Disability Advisory Service. The service offers advice and guidance to students with any disability, mental health condition, or specific learning difficulty (SpLD). The service can be contacted by:

The service is based in the Carrington building at Whiteknights Campus, with reception open Monday-Friday, 10:00-16:00.

Drop in sessions run during term time every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 to 12:00. You do not need to make an appointment to attend, simply just drop by.

The Study Advice Service can help you develop more effective ways of studying. They are a team of specialists who can offer academic support alongside that given to you by your tutor. They can talk to you about essay and report writing, time management, reading and note-making, exam revision, dissertations and the way you study. You can book a one-to-one advice session, tailor-made to your needs and completely confidential.

  • London Road, building 16 – supports Institute of Education (IoE) and School of Built Environment (Architecture)
  • Foxhill House, building foyer – supports School of Law

In addition, the following specialist advisory services are available in the Carrington building:

If you require visa or immigration assistance, please book an appointment with the International Student Advisory Team, based in the Carrington building. You can book an appointment online or in person at the Student Services reception desk in the Carrington building, ground floor.
